Quick Mango Peda Recipe

Peda is a very popular traditional Indian milk-based sweet made with khoya/mawa/evaporated milk solids. However, this aam ka peda recipe is the instant version using milk powder and mango pulp. It can be made in just under 15-20 minutes.

Let’s see how to do this!

Preparation Step By Step

  • Blend the chopped mangoes into a fine puree and set aside.
  • Heat a nonstick pan with ghee. Once the ghee starts melting add mango puree.

  • Stir continuously for 2 minutes. Then add milk powder and cardamom powder.
  • Stir continuously until all the moisture evaporates and the mixture thickens. Make sure not to overcook.
  • Once done, turn off the flame and set aside to slightly cools down.
  • Grease your palms with ghee, divide the peda dough into equal portions.
  • Take a portion, roll with your palm and make a round crack free ball shape.
  • Now gently press a finger on the top and put some chopped almonds or any dry fruits.
  • Follow the same process and make all of the pedas.

 Tips

  • No extra sugar has been added here. As the milk powder already has sugar. Do add sugar if using unsweetened milk powder.
  • Always use non-fibrous, sweet mangoes while making any sweet or beverage.
  • Use canned mango pulp if fresh ones are not available.
  • Use a nonstick pan to avoid sticking to the pan. However, any pan can be used.
  • While cooking makes sure not to overcook. As overcooking may make these chewy.
  • Any dry fruits and nuts could be used for garnishing.
  • Storage: These mango sweets could be easily stored for a week when refrigerating in an airtight container.
