Mayo ketchup is a popular sauce in Puerto Rico, often served with tostones(crispy fried plantains), burgers, sandwiches, and fries. Some even refer to it as Puerto Rican Fry Sauce.
I like both tomato ketchup and mayonnaise on lots of things. The two are a perfect match together and taste delicious on just about EVERYTHING from simple sandwiches to boiled egg to tacos!
Though you can get the readymade mayo ketchup sauce at any supermarket or online. But making your own tastes far better than the store-bought one. Also, it is quite economical.
Making this sauce is so easy and simple. You only need to add all of the ingredients to a bowl, mix them together, and it’s DONE! The flavors of garlic and ketchup really shine through the mayonnaise, which makes it much more interesting than plain mayo.
Start with the basic recipe below, then tweak and adjust to your taste.
You can serve this sauce immediately but it tastes better when left in the fridge for an hour so that the flavors can mingle.
Mayo Ketchup Sauce Ingredients

Mayonnaise: Mayonnaise is the base of this sauce. Use homemade mayo or store-bought whatever you like. For a vegan version use an egg-free, dairy-free mayo.
Tomato Ketchup: an important ingredient. Ketchup adds a pink hue with a touch of tang and sweetness to the sauce.
Garlic: I used garlic powder but you can use fresh garlic instead. Mash and paste 1 garlic clove, if using fresh garlic.
Additional Flavorings
This is completely optional but for an extra flavor, you can add a dash of lemon juice and a teaspoon of hot sauce if you like.
